Student Leadership Programme
TPJC envisions our students to be “Global ready leaders with exemplary character and sound values”. As such, we have carefully designed the Student Leadership Programme to nurture our student leaders to acquire the right leadership attitude, skills and values to lead team effectively and to be prepared for future challenges. Under the programme, the students will be given ample opportunities to develop leadership competencies to set strategic direction for team and to lead members from diverse backgrounds in achieving team goals. Student Leaders will also be nurtured to be future oriented and to take great interest in community and global issues.
Our Student Leadership Programme adopted the Assessment, Challenge and Support (ACS) Leadership approach undergirded by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner 5 Practices of the Leadership Challenge Model in developing students’ leadership qualities. Student leaders are exposed to many training opportunities which include Basic Leadership Workshop, Leadership Elective Modules, Leadership Training Camp, Student Leaders Congress and other enrichment activities (eg. OBS Diafora Programme, SMU Leadership Symposium, etc). In addition, student leaders are also actively involved in the decision making, planning and organising of many College and CCA activities. A standard leadership appraisal rubric that is based on the qualities identified by College as important attributes of a leader is used by teachers to guide and coach student leaders.
Through the TPJC Student Leadership Programme, we hope that our student leaders will be global ready leaders who exhibit exemplary leadership and character to lead and influence positively in the society.
