TPJC Chess Club was established with the aim to promote and inculcate a passion for mind-sports at both the recreational and the competitive level. Through training sessions and competitions, our members have many opportunities to hone their skills as well as network with enthusiasts and like-minded peers from other colleges.
This year, our Chess Club prides itself on its multitude of achievements from taking part in various invitational and national competitions during the year. Our Chinese Chess Team clinched the 5th placing at the Chung Cheng Cup Invitational Championship in spite of stiff competition from more experienced teams. One of the players from the Girls’ team, Vice-President Ng Wi En of (16A08), did us proud when she won the 4th place for Individual Girls Event at the nation-wide 21st Char Yong Cup Chinese Chess Championship in March.
As part of Chess Club Values in Action outreach projects to the community, we rendered our services to the Singapore Xiang Qi General Association during the weekends in the March holidays. Our dependable members were appointed as recorders and aides to ensure the smooth running of the various competitions, namely the National Primary Schools and National Girls Finals Championships, which were held at various locations.
Together with our dedicated teachers, and our veteran coach, we believe TPJC Chess Club will grow from strength to strength and reach greater heights!
