Event Highlights Term 3 2018
Well Wishes for our Students
On 16 August morning, our staff came together to unleash our creativity and write well wishes to our students as well as the best memories that we have of the college. We’ve put up our messages on the TPEat windows and hope that everyone passing by will take a minute to read it and be inspired to keep working at doing their best and being their best!
National Day Celebrations
TPJC celebrates the nation’s 53rd birthday with heart-felt reflections by teacher and students who explored what Singapore and being a Singaporean mean to them. A fun-fact quiz to test how much students know about Singapore, along with song items by teachers and mass sing-along of some of our favourite National Day songs mark a morning of joyous celebration! A day of Celebrations!
On the 8th August (Wed), we celebrated National Day, Racial Harmony Day and Teachers’ Day with a concert, inclusive of our favourite National Day songs sing-a-long segment, and class bonding time where classes entertained and thanked their teachers. The day ended with a Teachers’ Day lunch buffet for our teachers to unwind over good food and company. It was an immensely heartfelt celebration and the Ohana spirit was strong!
Kindness Story-writing & Poetry-writing Competition
We are happy to share that 2 of our teams have emerged as prize winners for the 2018 Write for Kindness Story-writing and Poetry-writing competition! The competition is organised annually by the Singapore Kindness Movement and it aims to encourage students “to reflect on their experiences, put values into practice and contribute to the community meaningfully”. The story-writing and illustration team came in 1st for their title “Henry Saves Brightsville” and the poetry-writing and illustration teams won the ‘Best Illustration’ prize for their poem, ‘The Beggar and the Giver’. We are proud of all the participants for stepping forward to contribute to a kinder society!
This week, we’ve been keeping ourselves well-fed and healthy! Graced by the presence of fruit royalty on Tuesday, we indulged in an afternoon of durians and mangosteens (packed with vitamins, of course) in between the vigorous preparation for the upcoming prelims. And on Wednesday morning, we started our day with some staff bonding over delicious teochew porridge before seizing the day. A family that eats together, gets through the As together!
