Total Defence Day 2017

15 February 2017 marked the 75th year of the fall of Singapore. TPJC commemorated Total Defence Day with a series of awareness sessions that aimed to spark conversations about Civil and Psychological Defence from 13th – 16th February 2017. One of the highlights of these sessions was the Heart-to-Heart session with Maj (Ret) Ishwar Lall Singh, a WW2 Survivor. Having experienced the darkest time of Singapore’s history, Major Singh wished for our students to not be complacent and take our peace for granted. The Central Narcotics Bureau also spoke to the JC2s about SGSecure and the importance of remaining drug-free so as to ensure our Psychological Defence. For the JC1s, TPJC-Civil Defence Lionhearters, who are also Civics Councillors, took the lead and shared about Singapore’s past and present threats, as well as the importance of knowing what to do during an emergency. As Singaporeans, even as we are grateful for the decades of peace that we’ve enjoyed, let’s together keep Singapore strong especially in light of global terrorism today.
