Chinese Calligraphy Society aims to promote Chinese Calligraphy at recreational and competitive level and cultivate an awareness of Chinese culture. We also aim at instilling an appreciation of the Art of Chinese Calligraphy in our students and to provide a holistic development of students through calligraphy practice, competitions and leadership camps. To be a member of Chinese calligraphy one need not be experts in this area but have an interest in Chinese Calligraphy will do. Although most of the students do not have any Chinese Calligraphy background, with the help of our instructors they manage to write beautiful poems within a short period. This year, Calligraphy Society has taken part in various calligraphy competitions organised by Fo Guang Shan and The Singapore Calligraphy Society. We also organized On-the-spot Chinese Pen Calligraphy Competition for the College and the Seal Engraving Workshop for the Calligraphy members.

The Seniors at Wellness@west Tampines Blk 811

Our overall project is about having a better understanding towards elderly by spending a meaningful day with them. As we think that being old may make elderly feel unimportant or redundant. Hence, with a single outcome per activity, we are aim to bring fun and good memory to elderly. Chinese drama and storytelling allow elderly to recall their past and make them feel young again. Hence, they will feel less lonely and useless. Moreover, Chinese Calligraphy boost their interest in knowing more about their own race and culture so that they may develop same hobby as us and we may have more conversation topics to talk about.
